Ashley Barnes-Kleinsorge Ashley's Journey

Hello Family and Friends,
As some of you may know and others are just finding out, God has put me on a journey I did not think I would be going through at 44 years of age but here it is.  In early November I went to a couple of doctors to figure out what was going on with me, why I was in so much pain and not getting better.  After seeing a colon specialist I was sent to have a cat scan, ct scan, and colonoscopy.  It was clearly determined that it was cancer, squamous cell carcinoma, anal cancer.  My first thought, out of all the cancers I could get that’s the one, did not see that one coming!  After meeting with the oncologist and radiation doctor at Texas Oncology it was determined that treatment will be radiation for 5 weeks, 5 days a week, and chemo for 2 weeks.  After a delay with medical insurance, I will finally be starting my treatment this week.  This cancer is very painful, so I am hopeful that the treatment might bring some relief. Even though the chemo and radiation will have it’s own downfalls, it’s a start to a new beginning.  I will try my best to keep family and friends updated on the process.  I am lucky to have wonderful doctors and their team who have provided wonderful treatment. Please keep Sydney, Wesley and Eric in your thoughts and prayers.  They have all handled it very well, but I know it weighs on them.  Lastly, thank you to my friends and family for the encouraging words and company, and just helping me keep my head above water.   Please keep prayers coming, and that good things lie ahead.
