Dr. Shirvani suspected a testicular cancer earlier, and performed a radical inguinal orchiectomy on October 3, 2016. After the successful surgery, the biopsy came out as a Diffused Large B-Cell Lymphoma on October 6, 2016. We found a Korean oncologist, Dr. Park. The first meeting with Dr. Park was November 4, 2016. He scheduled a PET scan on November 18, 2016. The result came out on November 8, 2016. His PET scan result shows he has cancer spread around his right side pelvic, spine, and kidney. Since it’s lymphoma, all the lymph nodes around these areas are affected. Around his right kidney shows the most activities. The PET is often given a number called “SUV” (standard uptake value); most active cancers will have an SUV greater than 2.5. My dad’s number is 21. Dr. Park mentioned that it is very aggressive cancer, so he will start the chemo ASAP. He also suspects that it might be in his bone marrow. Dad’s first chemo is scheduled next Tuesday. Before chemo, dad has to do a heart test call ECHO, and he has to put a Mediport for the chemo injection.
Dr. park is optimistic about it. Although dad needs to do 6 rounds of chemo, if dad is very receptive to the medicine he will beat the cancer!
We know the journey ahead of us is not going to be easy, but I know God will be carrying each one of us every step of the way.
