After a trip to the walk-in clinic for trouble breathing, Sue was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian cancer on August 9, 2016 at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. They drained 5.6 liters of cancerous fluid from her abdomen and another 2 liters of fluid from the pleural cavity (surrounding her lungs) to solve her breathing problems. She received 18 weeks of chemotherapy before surgery, a radical hysterectomy and debulking in December 2016, and 9 more weeks of chemotherapy after surgery. She was in remission from April of 2017 to October of 2017. On October 2nd, some small tumors were found inside her peritoneal cavity. She had another surgery to repair a hernia and to insert a port to start a clinical trial involving immunotherapy.
