Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.

***Please use this site as your main point of contact. Any updates or opportunities for help will be posted here first. Currently, food and visitors unfortunately must be very limited, due to the health issues, so please just send well wishes via this site.***

In mid-March, Sue had a respiratory virus that lasted several weeks.  When her symptoms subsided, she was still very fatigued, so decided to visit her doctor. Blood work was done at that time, and showed low blood counts.  She was then referred to the hematology department at KU Med.  Over the next week, she had more extensive blood work done as well as a bone marrow biopsy.  The results found that she has MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome), a form of leukemia.
Her treatment plan begins with four months of chemotherapy....one week of chemo, followed by three weeks "off".  At the end of the four months, she will be reevaluated, and the next treatment course will be decided.
Sue is so thankful for her special friends and family who have already blessed her in so many ways....her small group (Nancy and friends), who are taking care of her lawn, her "Quilt sisters" who made the beautiful prayer quilt (pictured above), her neighbors who are helping with the trash and other chores and errands, and all the emails, texts and cards from everyone!
