Welcome to our Caring Bridge site...the absolute last type of blog I ever thought I would create. I was diagnosed with uterine/endometrial cancer in October 2013. After researching various treatment centers, I decided to switch insurance companies and seek treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. This meant that I had to wait until after 1/1/14, but I felt it was worth the wait to be treated at the BEST!

I had a total hysterectomy at Methodist Hospital on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 and now will receive several weeks of chemo and radiation therapy to complete my cure. My next visit to Mayo is Monday, January 20, 2014, so I really won't have many updates until then, when we should learn more about how much, when, etc.

Right now I'm focusing on recovery from major surgery. The tumor in my uterus was too large to be removed through the laparoscopy robotic incisions, so I also had a laparotomy incision, retracing my old c-section scar -- for a total of 5 incisions! I received phenomenal nursing care at Mayo am now home recovering and my husband, Phil, is serving as my caregiver. We had tried to keep all of this as low-key as possible; but it became impossible to keep everyone updated through email and text messaging...so we are hoping that this site will make it easier for all of our supporters to stay informed.

Thank you in advance for all your love and support. It means the world to us!
