Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Dear Friends, I have been diagnosed with a rare, benign tumor in my heart.  It is called a Left Atrial Myxoma.  About 1 person in 2 million has this tumor.  I have been feeling fatigued for a long time.  You may know I had a rough case of Covid last year in July.  Instead of gaining strength, I continued to become weaker and more fatigued.  I had a test which first showed the myxoma about a month ago.  Since then, Jill & I have been meeting with cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons. I will  have surgery to remove the tumor at Abbott Northwestern Hospital on April 12th.  Dr. Vinayak Bapat, Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Minneapolis Heart Institute will be performing the surgery.  Recovery will take several weeks.  I am asking my daughter Molly to be my co-author on this site to keep everyone informed as to my progress.  I should be back home from the hospital on Friday, April 16.
