For anyone who didn't know until now what is happening, here is a brief synopsis:

On Friday, 11/11/16, Dad received a diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma, after a scan revealed tumors in his spine, femur, pelvic bone and a large 10 cm tumor in his right rib cage.  He had been experiencing some incoherency and an altered mental state the last couple of times I spoke to him and we were all very concerned. I flew down to Richmond on On Tuesday, 11/15/16 and I found out he was admitted to the Chippenham ER in Richmond  by his primary doctor after seeing him for a follow up visit. He was very disoriented and pretty incoherent.  He was transferred to the Thomas John Cancer Center in Johnston Willis Hospital.  We received  good news from the oncologist that the myeloma is treatable. However, as the week progressed, things took a turn for the worse. His mental state worsened, becoming increasingly more incoherent and altered.  He has  had various other health issues that were arising both directly and indirectly from the cancer.  On Saturday, 11/19 he became unresponsive and they moved him into ICU. He is currently heavily sedated in a medically induced coma and is intubated and on a ventilator. It all Happened very quickly and I think We are still in a state of shock. I will post daily updates or new information as we get it,  Thank you everyone for all of the love and support. Please send positive thoughts into the universe that he makes it through this critical time.

With much love,

Vanessa
