Dear Ones, Ten Days from now............................................. It has been a long wait, mainly caused by the slow-moving referral process that was necessary in the preliminary preparations for Steve's actual throat cancer treatments. Yesterday and today we met with both his radiology oncologist, who is the main provider and his medical oncologist who will be coordinating the chemotherapy which is in throat cancers the adjunct treatment. Both treatments are scheduled to begin on Monday, Oct 29th. Steve will have radiation treatments Monday through Friday for approximately seven weeks. He will receive chemotherapy every Monday that the radiation continues. Some of you know I took a quick trip to Guatemala at the beginning of the month to pick up the beautiful handmade products we sell as a fundraiser for the music school. I had considered having my friend and haircutter, Kelly, shave my head to match Steve's hair loss from the chemo. But! his chemo does not cause hair loss, so I've still got mine too. His primary side effects will be accumulative from the radiation. We will deal with those when they arrive. While we have been waiting to begin the treatments, Steve at the request of all the providers has added back the 15lbs he had so diligently worked to remove over the last months before we got to Austin. All providers assure us that he will lose that and most likely quite a bit more over the next months. So over the next ten days, we'll be working to elect Beto O'Rourke as the new senator from Texas!!! YES GO Beto. Also, our dear friend and Steve's first drummer in the US, Emerson Roberts is coming to visit. In fact, he and Steve will play the set break on that powerful Monday evening, the 29th. According to the Mayan Calendar, the Tzolkin, Oct 29th is 10 Tijax, which is a healing day. We are going for that. So this is an introduction of where we are. Check back in a couple of weeks for an update. Much Love to All from Steve and Elisabeth
