Steve Prokosch Steve's Cancer Journey

First post: Apr 6, 2017 Latest post: Dec 3, 2018

We never thought in a thousand years that cancer would be part of Dad's story, but here we are.   On Tuesday, March 28th Dad went to the doctor for major bloating and abdominal pain.  His doctor suggested he have a CT scan done.  On Monday April 3rd he did just that and his (our) world was turned upside down.  The doctors visited with him about his CT scan and informed him he had a couple of large tumors, the largest being 13 cm x 12cm x 9cm, and "innumerable"  modules scattered throughout his abdomen.  On Wednesday the 5th he underwent a biopsy on a tumor that was located on his kidney.  And now we wait for results and doctors orders of what the next step will be.  On Friday the 7th he found out he has Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.  And on May 2nd he was given the official diagnosis of "Triple Hit Lymphoma" (THL) This is rarest of all Lymphomas and there's not a whole lot they know about it, but we will continue to pray that he will beat this, and ask that you keep dad and all of us in your prayers as we walk with him on this journey, helping him fight this awful disease.

So much has happened since we first updated Dad's "Story"...It's now December and Dad is going through the process of a Stem Cell Transplant at the Mayo in Rochester.  If all goes well and he stays on course, we should be able to celebrate Christmas at home!  Thanks for sticking with us through it all!

On March 2, 2018 Dad has his 100 day post stem cell transplant appointment - he was given an A+!  The Stem Cell Transplant worked and there is no cancer cells present at this time.
