Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.
Hi I'm, Steve Nodine.  I have had Hepatitis C since the 80's.  I was diagnosed in 2006 by which time I already had advanced Cirrhosis of the Liver. 2009 I had bleeding varices and spent a week in the hospital at which time the surgically installed a stint in my liver to bypass the blood flow to the varices.
I have tried Interferon therapy twice and Harvoni and have never been able to get rid of the virus.  I have been getting ultra sound scans of my liver twice a year because those of us with Cirrhosis have an 80% chance of getting liver cancer.  THe last scan showed something and they did a CT scan and then an MRI and diagnosed me with Hepatic Carcinoma.  I will be undergoing chemo and eventually get a Liver Transplant.
This is a place for to keep family and friends aware of what I am going through.  I can use all the support I can get.  I've lived a rather isolated life for the last several year (barring a beautiful relationship with my best friend and wife Teri Tischer), and am reaching out for as much contact with people as I can get!
Thank you for visiting my page.
