Steve had his first heart attack in August 2009 at the age of 46. He had a second heart attack in March 2013. Unfortunately, he suffered significant damage to the left side of his heart that time,  and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, which is a progressive condition that worsens over time. There is no cure for CHF; however many people are able to manage it with medication for multiple years.  Recently, Steve’s condition has worsened and his heart will not be able to sustain him much longer. He has been in the hospital since June 8th. This past weekwe were given news that filled us with hope, joy, fear and gratitude. On June 21st, after many in-depth tests and evaluations, Steve was approved for the ultimate gift, a  new heart. He is now listed on the national organ transplant list. While the timeline is unpredictable, he does have a common blood type, which increases his chances of receiving a heart soon. In the meantime, he will remain in the hospital for now. He’s holding his own....looks great and is completely mobile. The wait is difficult, but we’re convinced that miracles do happen every day!
