Steven Berger, a Rhino who needs everyone to pray for him.

Steve Berger started the year with a mission for good health.

Leaving his position as a Sr Vice President with AON Corp at the end of 2016, Steve wanted to take a little time to de-stress and to focus on good health before re-evaluating his next professional move.

He decided to take a part time job from 5:00 to 9:00 am at Menards. He wanted something physical. To Steve, this job was a weight loss program with a financial benefit.

With the aid of his fit-bit along with going to the gym in the afternoon, all was going well. He felt great.

He worked very hard at Menards, generally he even stayed till about 11:00.

On Friday morning Steve fell off a ladder at Menards. He was taken to St Joseph’s in Elgin. He suffered massive head injury. His skull was fractured in 4 places. Although St Joseph is a Trauma II center, his injuries are so severe that they had him air lifted to Good Samaritan hospital in Downers Grove. This is a Trauma I center.

On Friday afternoon, Steve had brain surgery. A portion of his skull was temporarily removed to allow the brain to swell. The first 72 hours are about keeping him alive. We are nearing that 72 hours.

Currently Steve is in a drug induced coma. He is on a ventilator and a feeding tube.

They hope to start slowly bringing him out of the coma, maybe even today.

The hospital is great and they are giving him such great care. As things like a pike in blood pressure or fever come up, they are in complete action to keep him stable.

More updates as they are available.
