On Friday May 15th 2020 at about
8 am, Steven brought himself to the hospital after experiencing a few days of trouble breathing, flu like symptoms, and trouble sleeping.
They quickly admitted him at Allina Hospital in Owatonna.
Steve thought for sure he probably got the covid 19 virus and so they began tests and put him on oxygen. They then had to intubate him and sedate him. He was put on a ventilator and was able to get much needed rest.
As he rested the Drs tested his Liver, kidneys and brain.
The covid test came back negative so they opted for a second test just to rule that out. After another 24 hrs that second test also came back negative.
So far all they knew was he had developed pneumonia. After some testing and finding some damage in his liver they decided to take a look at his heart.
After a couple days in the hospital intubated and sedated they did a echocardiogram on his heart. They found a leaky valve that he would need surgery for asap.
Monday May 18th Steve was transferred to St. Mary's hospital cardiac triage in Rochester.
A day later he had open heart surgery to replace the leaky valve. Everything went great with the surgery.
Finally we had answers and finally he was on the mend.
Please share your thoughts, feelings, and prayers as I update Steve's recovery!
He's definitely got quite a road ahead to heal etc. But I'm hoping he feels 10x better than he has! He's a great guy (dad gpa friend son brother) and deserves to have many more great years ahead.
Thank You!
