About two weeks ago Steve was lifting some file boxes in his closet and lost his grip, lurching his back forward. The pain in his back increased after this incident and his Christian doctor advised physical therapy, a chest X-ray, and a simple over the counter med regime. Over the next two weeks, Steve was unable to lie flat, he became exhausted, experienced numbness and tingling in all four extremities, and began having difficulty swallowing. His gifted Christian physical therapist and his physician recommended he go to the local ER on January 24 for an MRI.  The MRI showed a 5 cm lesion on his cervical spinal chord. After collaborating with our wise and knowledgeable Christian friend and radiologist, the decision was made to locate a neurosurgeon who specializes in this rare type of case. Unable to locate an experienced neurosurgeon nearby willing to take on Steve’s case,  he was transported by our family to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for evaluation and was admitted to the ICU on the January 25.  The team of neurologists and neurosurgeons in Seattle are in the process of running tests to determine what exactly the nature of the lesion is.
