Steve was diagnosised with pancreatic cancer on October 18. He had a few weeks of not feeling well, so a cat scan of his abdomen was ordered. A mass was seen and it determine that a biopsy should be done to confirm the diagnosiis. He has since had a cat scan of his chest abdomen and pelvis. Results show no cancer growth outside of the pancreas. He will start chemotherapy November 7. He will have 4 cycles( 1/14 days) then a series of scans will be done. The goal of chemo is to eliminate any " dandelion seeds" of Cancer in the area and to decrease the mass he already has. At this time it will be decided if more chemo is needed or radiation will be done to continue shrinkage. The ultimate goals it then to have surgery to remove all of the tumor mass. He had a power port place November1. Chemotherapy will start on November 7 at Minnesota Oncology in Coon Rapids. At the time of his biopsy 2 stents were placed in his bile ducts, they will be reevaluated this Monday November 6 for possible replacements.& nbsp; They allow for proper bile drainage. We were taken by surprise with diagnosis of Cancer. But thankful is it contained to pancreas and hopefully all of it can be removed. He has seen a surgeon and a gastroenterologist at Abbott Northwestern in Minneapolis. His oncologist is at Minnesota Oncology in Coon Rapids , MN.
Please keep Steve in your thoughts and prayers as he takes on this challenging journey. As always he is optimistic and says he is a "good soldier", "I do as I am told".
