Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. &nbsp; Anyone that knows Steve knows he is a pretty healthy guy and is rarely sick. &nbsp;Last week on Thursdsay he was complaining of being crazy cold with body aches and thought he was coming down with influenza. &nbsp;He spiked a temp that night., but that’s normal with the flu. &nbsp;He literally slept for 3 days, only getting up to come downstairs for an hour or so or to use the bathroom. &nbsp; On Sunday night I noticed he was becoming more disoriented and unsteady on his feet; but figured since he hadn’t eaten anything he was probably pretty weak. &nbsp;On Monday 3/11/19 , I brought him to the Mankato ER after my Grandpa’s visitation when his fever was still over 101 and he wasn’t making much sense. &nbsp;The ED staff were great! &nbsp;I was absolutely NOT thinking sepsis... both Steve and I figured he would go in, be positive for influenza or strep, get fluids and a prescription and and be on our way. &nbsp;Eight hours later he was admitted to the ICU with septic shock and multiple organ dysfunction/acute failure. &nbsp;Had we waited any longer, I was told he would have declined rapidly and not been able to recover. &nbsp;In short, he would have been dead the next day. &nbsp;God works mysteriously for sure! &nbsp; Steve has a long road ahead of him but we are confident he will make a full recovery. &nbsp;We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
