Steve went in for a herniated disc surgery on Monday, March 16th, 2020. His surgery itself was successful. He had a bad reaction coming out of anesthesia and he injured himself in many ways including reopening the surgical site and it had to be restitched. He recovered enough to go home. At home, he had trouble breathing and was taken back to the hospital. Due to the fact that he stopped breathing completely, a trach tube was inserted and he was placed on a ventilator. His wife, Cheryl, was there by his side 24/7 until Thursday night when she was forced to leave the hospital due to the Covid 19 virus outbreak and the government enforcing a total lockdown on hospitals only allowing patients and medical staff inside. Today it has been a week since Steve was placed on a ventilator and the goal is to wean him off the ventilator. They have tried before now unsuccessfully. On this 2nd attempt, it is not going well and Steve is not taking on the breathing on his own making the weaning process difficult. In his first surgery when he injured himself that included injuring his vocal chords. The doctor would like for him to have surgery to repair them on Wednesday this week. This will only be possible if Steve can be weaned from the ventilator. We request and are thankful for all prayers on his behalf. Pray also for his wife, Cheryl and his girls.
