Prior to October of last year, Steve was a healthy 51 year old husband, dad, and youth coach. By mid October he was a cancer patient, diagnosed with stage 3 testicular cancer which unfortunately had metastasized to his abdomen. The scariest part of his diagnosis was that it was completely unexpected. He was one of those men who could honestly say he had never been sick a day in his life. He had none of the typical symptoms - no weight loss, no pain, no fatigue and no clue that in a few short days he would begin a fight for his life. If you know anything about testicular cancer you are probably aware that it is typically a young man's disease and typically does not spread and is therefore highly curable. Some statistics place the cure rate at something like 98 percent. Unfortunately we would soon come to realize that nothing about Steve's case was "typical".
