Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
Early in December I was diagnosed with colon cancer. On the day of the diagnosis, they took a CT scan of my torso which showed no evidence that the cancer had spread to any other part of my body.
I am having surgery to remove the cancer on January 3rd. They tell me I will be hospitalized for 3 to 5 days, and the need for subsequent treatments, like chemotherapy, will not be known for a week or so after the surgery.
They say that within 2 or 3 weeks I can do almost anything I would ordinarily do that does not involve heavy lifting… You know, all they usual stuff, sky diving, wind surfing, rock climbing, ballroom dancing… :-D
So many people have sent me their best wishes, and many people have offered to help us. I am so very grateful to know I have so many friends. Thank You, ALL!!!
At this point, I honestly don’t know what sort of help we may need. I do know I will be on a very restricted diet for several weeks following the surgery, so if you are thinking of making some sort of food, it’s probably best to wait till we know more. Ellen will let you know if we need your help.
