Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place and to provide specific prayer requests as we continue on this journey.  We appreciate your prayers, support, and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting!

Meghan here. As many of you know my dad, Steve, was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Throat Cancer. He was diagnosed the beginning of April 2021. The last few weeks have been a blur for our family but we've felt so held up by everyone's prayers. My dad had been experiencing an off and on sore throat for a few months but it wasn't until he felt a lump in early 2021 that he thought much of it. Fast forward to April and it suddenly took a turn for the worst. He ended up going in for emergency surgery on April 15 and the surgeon was SHOCKED he was even able to swallow anything in the previous days/weeks/months because of how large the tumor is. He had a difficult time inserting a breathing tube into my dad. The days following the surgery were difficult for all of us. I was able to make a trip up to PA to be with him and my mom and the time there with Duke and I was medicine for his soul, I believe.

As it stands, my dad does not qualify for surgery for the tumor as it would be too invasive and risky. He has opted for radiation and chemo for 7 weeks. He has a permanent feeding tube in and has been using it for about 2 weeks now to receive ALL of his nutrition and liquid. It is HARD to see him like this and knowing he cannot eat/drink ANYTHING. Please pray for his frail and weak body. I will post more specifics and updates about the medical side of things in the posts below but this should catch you up to speed with how we got here thus far.

God is truly on the MOVE! Read more of our family story below...

Since I was a little girl, I have been praying for the Lord to work and move in my dad's heart and life. My mom and I have earnestly prayed for much of my life for him. I have vivid memories of me praying for him every night since I was maybe 5 years old. Over the years and throughout my life the Lord has remained faithful to ALL of us. He has SUSTAINED my dad's life and He has provided for my mom and my every need.

One of my deepest longings and desires is for my dad to truly encounter the Lord Jesus and have Him radically change his life! I've felt for a LONG time that the Lord has a plan for my dad's life because He has literally saved his life through many a traumatic accident, falls, you name it. The Lord has been GOOD and FAITHFUL to our family through these hardships and trials and He has SUSTAINED my dad's life and I believe it is for a big PURPOSE!

The Lord has done a remarkable work in me and also my mom and we desire nothing less than FULL healing for my dad first, spiritually, and second, physically.

I have a love for my father that is deep and wide and special. The Lord has opened my eyes over the years to see the deep pain in my father's life, which has helped me gain understanding and extend compassion. The Lord has helped me relish and celebrate all of the good things my dad is! He is hilarious and witty and can make anyone laugh! He is full of funny antics and is just downright a FUN person! I grew up watching him be hardworking with his construction work and his lawn business. He is crafty and handy and can build ANYTHING! He is deep down a tender and emotional guy and I've read some of the cards he's given my mom waaaayyyy back when and he is totally a romantic! He, to this day, cuts and brings in fresh flowers for my mom and I from the woods. He is an avid outdoorsman! I grew up experiencing his love for hunting, gardening, and doing anything outdoors. He is such a special person created in the image of God and so we pray for his physical life, that the Lord would heal him, but we mores pray for his spiritual healing and that he would come to know the saving grace of Jesus and His unending love for him!

Thank you for joining us, partnering with us in prayer and petition to our good, good, heavenly Father who is capable of ALL things! We pray BOLDLY and desire to see a MIRACLE happen but at the end of the day, THY WILL BE DONE! Whatever the Lord answers and gives, we are at peace with and know and trust it is right and good.
