On December 8,2016, Steve suffered an ischemic stroke on the right basil ganglia (an area close to the brain stem). The MRI revealed the clot had showered to multiple parts of his brain. It was in a small vessel. He was admitted to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA. His left side was impacted leaving his arm and leg with limited to no mobility. His speech was slightly affected but not noticeably. His mental capacity was not affected at all (Prasie the Lord). Physical, occupational and speech therapy was started immediately.
His prognosis for full recovery is very good but it will be a long hard road ahead. Determination, focus, rest and patience will be required. Some of those are easier than others for Steve. He has a fighting spirit and is ready to go to battle. Bradee/Drew, Lee and I are right beside him. While this has affected our lives significantly, we are positive and know that God's hand is upon us and He will see us through.
Each and everyone of you are so special to us. We've been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support, encouragement, prayers and love demonstrated already. We need your support in the months ahead--especially Steve. We will keep you updated through this Caring Page periodically as we know you love Steve and are concerned for Him!! Please know that we welcome your calls, texts and emails even though we may not always be able to respond immediately.
We ask that you check this site for the latest update, as well as to the current visitation hours. Specific visition hours will be set to allow Steve maximal therapy and time to rest, which is imperative to his rehabilitation.
