Stephen Watkins

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. Stephen is 28 years old, a Flagler County Deputy Sheriff  (Detention Deputy) very active, working out and playing golf. We are using this site to keep family and friends updated in one place about Stephens fight with this staph infection . Stephen spent three weeks starting August 6th in Florida Memorial Medical Center after a staph infection (don't know where came from) rapidly ran up his spine compressing his spinal cord. Stephen had two spinal surgeries to decompress the spinal cord from the infection. Stephen has no feelings from his chest down. For weeks he fought with high fevers and rapid heart rates. Stephen spent weeks at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital in Jacksonville working hard to recover which he will. Stephen came home to his house on September 27th as he still is fighting to recover with mom and dad at his side.;As of July 14 Stephen who is now 29 years old has not gotten any feelings back he had lost. Stephen with his family is still determined and will one day walk again. He now has been transfered to the Sheriffs 9-11 center where he works twelve hour shifts. His house has been renovated making it wheelchair accessible. For some reason this happened to Stephen and he didn't deserve it but he is fighting hard rehabbing and in great spirits with his family at his side.
