Welcome to our CaringBridge website. Stanley Ainslie Applegate has inspired communities and individuals across the globe in his 97 years of a life well lived. In tribute to the man and his impact, we, his family, offer this site as an opportunity to share stories and appreciation. Stan died peacefully on Friday August 24th in Dalton, GA, where he and his wife, Marjorie, had lived for many years, finally settling down there after decades of world travel for work. As Stan moved in and out of hospice care for kidney cancer, there was a veritable parade of close friends from the book club, dulcimer group, art classes, and members from the 3 churches he had belonged to over the years - St. Marks, and Dalton First United Methodist, and Christ the King Lutheran. The loss of a huge spirit will be felt in many homes and hearts.
The first Journal entry is the wonderful obituary Bob wrote. As soon as Susan returns to her home in DC, we will upload the photo album she created. We welcome your photographs and stories and acknowledgements of the impact he has had on your life.
Thank you for joining in the memories of this renaissance man ~
