Stan was recently diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor called gliosarcoma multiforme (GBM). This shocking diagnosis was made after Stan had a severe seizure, which required a 911 call and then a hospital admission.   That night - on Sunday, November 14- a brain MRI was completed, confirming a brain tumor. Due to the aggressive nature of this brain tumor, doctors operated on him 2 days later to remove as much of the tumor as safely as possible.   The official diagnosis was a specific type of GBM... high-grade gliosarcoma. Currently there is no cure for this type of cancer and the prognosis for long term survival is poor.   Stan returned home two days following the surgery. And although he is recovering well, he has a long road ahead before he can move forward from this diagnosis. Soon he will be starting a course of chemo and radiation in tandem. These treatments will be necessary to stop cancer cells from returning and to kill any cells that may present following the surgery. He will also participate in any clinical trials that are available to him with the hopes of spending as much time as possible with Jess, Ellie and the rest of his family and friends. Please follow his journey along the way.
