Early in 2021, I began to experience back pain that was diagnosed as arthritis and treated with pain meds and physical therapy. After May trips to gather all the kids home from college the pain worsened and I returned to the doctor for next steps. That was an MRI of my back to see what was going on. It took until August to get that MRI which surprised everyone with metastatic lesions on my spine. That kicked off a flurry of doctor appointments and scans to determine what was going on.
3 MRIs, CT scan, Bone scan, mammogram, and biopsy. We now have a confirmation that it is primary lung cancer with widespread spine and rib metastasis.
I have doctors in Wilmington and at Duke. We go to Duke next week on Sept 1 to determine a treatment plan to move forward.
