Last Sunday Stacey had a late-night seizure that left her unconscious and brought her to the Lahey Clinic ER.

Though it initially appeared to be an isolated incident, an MRI on August 24th showed a mass in her left frontal lobe.  Stacey and Jeff met with neurosurgeons at both Lahey and to MGH for a second opinion and have decided to have the surgery at MGH with Dr. Dan Cahill.  Dr. Cahill is an expert in field and has come highly recommended from a variety of sources.

At this point there are too many options to speculate on what it might be – what they have been told is that it appears to be in accessible location and her executive functions are not in jeopardy.   Stacey will be awake during the surgery to ensure that her language skills are not impacted. Dr. Cahill will biopsy a sample during the surgery and determine the next steps.

Stacey is in good spirits - she is still working and has been able to stay focused on what she knows and not on what she can imagine.

Stacey and Jeff have an incredible network of family and friends and it can be hard to communicate 1:1 when things are moving so
quickly.  For now Jeff and Stacey will include updates on the site to avoid an overwhelming number of texts and emails.

We will set up a meal train and a way to help the family with the day to day while she is recovering.
