Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using this as one place to update all our family and friends on Sophie's progress. Brynn and Dan found a small lump on Sophie's chest in January and had it checked out right away. After some initial testing, the Doctors weren't super concerned. Since January, the mass has grown quite a bit (it is currently located on her left upper chest) She has been doing testing at Stanford's Lucille Packard Children's Hospital. Welcomest couple weeks and after a biopsy and MRI/CT she was diagnosed on May 19, 2020 with Ewings Sarcoma.  Sophie will be starting chemo next week (most likely Tuesday) and will be on a rotating schedule of 3 days at the hospital, then home for 2 weeks. Then 5 days at the hospital, then home for 2 weeks. She will be getting a port put in on her chest for easy infusion of the chemo. The port is a blessing as Sophie will still be able to swim, which is great because we all know how much Sophie loves the water!  They will be doing one more small biopsy from her bone marrow to ensure it has not spread anywhere else in her body. At this point, Brynn has indicated the doctors aren't too worried about it spreading but they want to be sure.  Brynn and Dan will be trading off times to be with Sophie and stay with Race. With Covid-19 happening, only one parent at a time is allowed to stay with her.  I have asked how we can support them at this time and I think the best would be prayers, meals and just overall love.  Sophie is strong, beautiful, fierce and such a joy. We know she will get through this!!! If you have questions Dan and Brynn are more than welcome to answer.  Thank you!! #sophiestrong
