Sonja is having heart surgery on Friday, 11/11/16, at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, CO. This will correct a long-standing mitral valve issue that she was born with.  It’s a planned surgery rather than an “emergency”, but is medically necessary because her heart had been getting progressively worse.

The surgery begins at 8:00 a.m. and will take 4-5 hours. She will then stay one or two days in ICU.  Once she’s stable, she’ll move to the cardio unit for another five days or so. This Caring Bridge site will be updated regularly and as soon as she’s up for hospital visitors we’ll let you know.

Once she returns home, basic recovery will take several more weeks (full recovery is about 2-3 months). She’s going to need some help and would love some visitors!  Jill Jagemann will be coordinating friends who are willing to either bring or prepare a meal for her, help her to take a short walk, and handle a few chores such as unloading the dishwasher.  Once we get a likely date for her return home, we’ll post a request for volunteers and you can
call Jill to sign up for your time to be responsible for a meal.

Meanwhile, please send her healing energies!  Thanks for caring.
