Skyler was born on October 3, 2015 with what we thought was a simple hole in her heart called an AVSD.  She stayed in NICU for 6 days while being evaluated and we also found out that she also had a problem with her arch.  She had her first open heart surgery at 6 days old.  During the 14 hour surgery, they realized her mitral value was too small to support the left side of her heart.  She was then diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. (HLHS) She was put on ECMO (life support) to give her heart a rest.  After 4 days, she was taken off ECMO, and was fighting for her life.  Skyler had several bumps in her journey, but God made it clear with giving her a stubborn, feisty will,  she has so much more to share with us! Skyler was in the hospital for 116 days before she came home.  Now,  after three open heart surgeries, several cath lab procedures, vents, and feeding tubes, she is a happy 2 year old who has so much more ahead of her! She truly is a miracle!
