Wednesday, July 26th, Simeon will undergo open heart surgery at St. Louis Children's Hospital to mend his little heart. In March, we found out Simeon was born with a congenital heart defect (CHD) that will need surgical repair. Simeon has a partial anomalous pulmonary venous return (PAPVR), an atrial septal defect (ASD), and a ventricular septal defect (VSD). Currently, his little heart is working three times as hard as it should be because the blood from his right pulmonary veins flow into the wrong side of his heart. The surgeon will rebuild his atrial septum around his right pulmonary veins, thus enabling the blood to flow into the correct place. The VSD will be patched as well.
We praise God for His mercy to Simeon in allowing his CHD to be discovered early and not have years of strain on his heart and lungs. Over the past five months we have seen our Heavenly Father's love and faithfulness in countless ways. He is good. We will continue to give updates on Simeon during his surgery and recovery. Thank you for your love and prayers for Simeon and for our family.
