Many of you know that Shirley is scheduled to have open heart surgery on Wednesday, November 4th. We thought it would be best to create a CaringBridge website for her to keep family and friends updated in one place.
The surgery will take place at Methodist Hospital. Doctor Dyrud is the surgeon for both her mitral valve replacement and coronary artery bypass.
We will use this site to update family and friends of her progress and recovery. There are so many unknowns at this point-we are hoping and praying for a smooth surgery and transition into recovery. As we understand now, she may be in the hospital for a couple weeks after the surgery. After her discharge from the hospital, tentative plans are for her to continue her recovery at home rather than a transitional care site, with related services coming to her for care and therapy.
