On Sunday Sept 24th Shirl complained of ear pain and thought she had an ear infection her husband Paul, convinced her to go to the Dr on Monday. The Dr confirmed that she did have an ear infection and prescribed an antibiotic, however she had to have certain antibiotics because if allergies and the pharmacy didn't have it, but could get it. Shirl went home to rest till able to pick up her meds. Her son Austin arrived home after school and she was laying on the couch with a bucket as she felt sick to her stomach, Austin went about the day like he normally would.  Paul arrived home and was able to "kinda" talk to her, he tried to wake her up later to go to bed and she was  unresponsive, he took her to the ER in Bemidji where they did a CT scan that showed "what appeared to be an air pocket" they gave her an antibiotic and life flighted her to Sanford in Fargo. She under went an MRI that showed bacterial meningitis on her brain. Shirl is fighting to wake up and fighting to stay with us.
