Welcome to our Mom's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On October 19th Mom was diagnosed with  Stage IV lung cancer. We also learned that it had spread to her liver, breast and bones. Mom has an incredible team of doctors, and we have all the faith in the world that she is in good hands. Radiation and surgery are not an option at this time. However, this type of cancer can be treated with Keytruda Immunotherapy and she has her first therapy session tomorrow in New Richmond. Immunotherapy has been very successful for some people and we hope it is for our Mom also. She will have a treatment every three weeks. Sometime in January or February she will have tests to determine if the treatment is working. We don't know yet how the treatment will affect her but they tell us it is not as hard on the body as chemo, so we have our fingers crossed that she will do okay with it.

On Saturday, November 11th she awoke with extreme pain and a large bump on her collarbone, after a trip to the ER, we learned she had a fracture in her collarbone due to cancer in that bone. She now wears a sling and is on pain meds as needed. It has been a very painful couple of days for her but she is coping well and taking things a day at a time.

Us kids are taking turns staying with her at her house on Blake Lake and taking her to appointments. We ask for your prayers during this time. This is going to be a long road for Mom and our family. She needs a lot of positivity.

We are going to keep the updates flowing through this site. We appreciate your continued love, prayers and support.

Please note that I am unable to remove the "ways to help" donation tab. Donations do not go to Mom. They help support CaringBridge so if you donate, please know that it goes to a good cause, but that it's for the site specifically.
