Well thought I should start by what got mom into ICU this last time. All started on March 23 rd she went to doctor after non feeling well for a week with cough and shortness of breath. her doctor admitted her to Essentia Health Superior.  She was influenza A positive as well as pneumonia. She rapidly had more difficulty breathing. She was sent to Duluth Essentia Miller Dwan. She rapidly had more shortness of breath. Dr needed to put her on CPAP which is mask. the next day she was doing better so they sent her to medical floor.
The doctor felt she needed Cpap at night. Her anxiety and claustrophobia got the best of her and she couldn't tolerate it. She was then intubated put on a ventilator and sedated.
the next day same throughout the day.
Yesterday they tried turning off ventilator but she was unable to tolerate it. Due to sedation. They then lightened up on sedation and she responds easily.
So today her first attempt at weaning ventilator resulted in spike of blood pressures.
This afternoon she was transferred into chair and responds well. she is currently assisting ventilator to breath. They will leave her in chair until about 6 pm then put her back to bed to rest.
I read messages to her so please remember her in your prayers so that she will have better recovery.
