Mom went into the hospital on Wednesday,  September 14 for what was suppose to be a routine valve replacement surgery.  The valve was replaced and working properly.  Yey!  They were ready to close her up and her heart rate started to rapidly decline.  They put her back on bypass to figure out what was going wrong.   They determined that there was a blockage in one of her arteries so they performed an artery bypass.  Her 4 hour surgery turned into 7 1/2 hours.  She was finally awake and taken off the vent Thursday around 4 p.m.    She was moved out of ICU on Saturday and put in the intermediate care unit at St. Mary's.  She's not eating much as the throat is still sore from the breathing tube being in for so long.  She's been up and walking but it's taken more time than normal as her body went through so much trauma.  She's feeling depressed at times (that's to be expected after such an ordeal) and very anxious to get out.   Because of the lack of blood flow during the complications that occurred during surgery her kidneys have suffered some damage so the doctors are working on getting them to function properly.   Please send prayers as she's not out of the woods just yet.
