Sherry Sawicki Sherry's Cancer Journey

First post: Nov 19, 2020 Latest post: Jun 16, 2021
Welcome to the CaringBridge website for Sherry and her recent Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer diagnosis. We are using it to keep family & friends updated on her progress, action plan, and other developments as we learn more.  Especially during this pandemic, we are limited in how we can show love and support and our phones seem to be the only way to stay connected.  Our hope is that this site will provide you with the information about her diagnosis so that your conversations with my mom will be ones more focused on support, levity, fun, and laughter instead of clinical questions about her next steps.  She is still the bright, lively, beautiful, moxie-filled, fabulous Sherry you know and love.

We appreciate your support, prayers and words of encouragement along the way.  Since Sherry is now considered high-risk in regards to COVID-19, a lot of the support will have to be from a distance, but we will be sure to keep you updated on ways we could use your help as we become more familiar with what to expect.  This affects us all.  I know we can all be there for one another, and especially my mom.  We are so blessed to have this loving, strong support system, so let's keep the *carefree timelessness* going the best we can in the face of this diagnosis.

My mom will likely be receiving treatment in some form or another for the rest of her life to keep the existing cancer at bay and manage the pain & damage it tries to cause to her body.  So please use words of encouragement and support regarding this reality.

There is a section of this site called "Ways to Help" and I will update that as we find out what would be helpful and when.  I know many of you will be eager to offer meals, errands, visits, etc. We will definitely be vocal about what is needed and offer opportunities for you all to show your love & support.  Please keep in mind that especially at the beginning of this process, we will be focused on getting our bearings until there is a firm action plan in place.  Also, COVID-19 makes things even more complicated because we need to protect Sherry at all costs.  Please be patient with us as we decide the best way to accept help. In the meantime, please keep the positive thoughts and prayers going.

The journal entries are sorted newest to oldest by default so make sure you go to the Journal section so you don’t miss any.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me directly with any questions or suggestions any time.
