Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.  Shelby is 16 1/2 with approximately 55 Thoracic and 70 degree Lumbar scoliosis curves. She will be having a single tether VBT procedure with possible disc release with Dr Baron Lonner at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York on January 3rd. We are excited to be a part of medical history as this new procedure is changing lives and giving hope to a new generation of scoliosis patients. Shelby is participating in a medical study as skeletally mature patient. If you want to learn more about this exciting new procedure, please read our entries below.

This picture was taken in a store in the mall where Shelby bought that sword a couple months ago. After 12 years of dance, this year she traded in her pointe shoes for martial arts.  She hopes to learn swordplay in the higher levels.  VBT surgery to her means she can still pursue that dream.  We are so grateful to those who have helped us find our way down this hilly, curvy road.

For more information about VBT, scoliosis and our personal journey, please check out the journal entries below.  I also provided a link to the Facebook group that has been invaluable source of support and information. You can find that under the "Ways to help" section above.
