Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

In December of 2019, Sheena underwent a surgical biopsy on her tongue for a concerning lesion. That biopsy came back positive for squamous cell carcinoma and she immediately underwent two consecutive surgeries to get clear margins. After the third surgery, scans came back showing no evidence of disease (NED). She stayed on a regular monitoring schedule with her doctor and things appeared to be going well.

Then in April 2021, she noticed a painful lump under her jawline very close to where her prior occurrence was. She immediately saw her doctor, and after a few weeks of tests, scans, and biopsies, it was confirmed that the same cancer from before had spread to multiple lymph nodes in her neck.

On May 18th, she will begin her journey to beat this cancer recurrence. First with surgery (a neck dissection) followed by chemo and radiation.
