My name is Shayla Rose Medina, I'm 4 Years born 12/12/08.
I was diagnosed with Retnoblastoma Cancer in My right eye on 12/21/10. Mommy and Daddy noticed I had a " Cat" like eye. It didn't look like I had a pupil mom and dad started looking up things on the internet and testing my eye to see if I could see. We did many flash cards and covering my eye etc. I went to my Pediatrician for a routine check up. Mom told the Dr. she thought I couldn't see out of my right eye and that it looked like my pupil was missing. The Dr. sent us to the Optomologist immediatly. We did many tests and was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Retnoblastoma. That week was filled with testing and more testing. We went to New York for treatment it was confirmed that I did have retnoblastoma, The tumor was so large it exploded. Because of this we were unable to save my eye. I had my eye removed on 1/11/2011.
We will be flying to New York to see The Occularist for my prosthetic eye soon. It's a little hard adjusting but I still love playing with my dolls and in my play house. I like to watch movies like veggie tales and Nemo. I play with my brother and baby brother and like to eat lots of snacks like gold fish.
