Sunday evening , Shawn had a debilitating headache. He went by ambulance to Fairfield Medical. After arriving and an almost immediate CT scan, we were told he had a mass on his brain. We were initially told he would be lifeflighted to Riverside Methodist Hospital. The weather was not safe to fly so the lifeflight team rode in the ambulance. After arriving in the ER at Riverside, he was admitted to the Neuro Critical Care unit. He had a MRI that night and was on pain meds. The MRI showed a large tumor on the left side of his brain. The tumor with swelling was pushing on his brain causing it to shift off center toward the right which caused so much pain. He was given high doses of steroids to treat the swelling. it was important to control the selling before surgey which was why surgery was scheduled Friday. It was a rough week, trying to control his symptoms and waiting.
