Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Shawn has been experiencing a wide variety of symptoms for quite awhile now and after our children's wedding he began some testing to see if we could figure out what was going on. On November 15th, while at work, Shawn started experiencing sharp pains in his head that felt like he was being electrocuted. Shawn was taken to the St. Mary's ER and after many hours and many tests the neurologist told us that Shawn has a sizeable mass in the base of his brain.... its pushing against his brain stem and his right temporal lobe. He has a brain tumor about the size of a baseball!! We have spent this week at the Mayo Clinic meeting with the Neuro Oncologist, Neurosurgeon, ENT Surgeon, hearing tests, etc. And have more tests and appointments next week. We will know more about the type of tumor and if it is malignant or benign after surgery. Shawn is scheduled for surgery December 8th. He will be admitted to the hospital December 7th to have some pre surgery procedures and to put in a shunt for surgery. He will be in the hospital for quite awhile and then rehabilitation. He will have a long road in front of him for recovery. Our family appreciates your love, support and prayers. We are very blessed to have all of you in our lives. ❤🙏❤🙏 Carol
