Well, not my first rodeo.... but here I am 15 years after my first cancer diagnosis of adenoid cystic carcinoma with  extensive surgery and 10 years after the second diagnosis of the same,  ACC and radiation. Now Breast Cancer Survivor. They say you are a survivor from the day of your diagnosis, December 20th, 2018. After further testing and MRI to determine the kind of cancer, the diagnosis is Triple Negative Breast Cancer, TNBC. Triple-negative breast cancer is cancer that tests negative for 1. estrogen receptors, 2. progesterone receptors, and 3. excess HER2 protein. Unfortunately, "negative" in this case wasn't a good thing.

Treatment recommended by my doctors: Chemotherapy (every 2 weeks for 4 months), surgery 3 weeks after last chemo, and then possibly radiation. Extent of surgery to be determined after chemo to see how much the tumor has reduced.  Praying for lumpectomy with clear margins and no radiation.

My mantra for this life chapter is "Find Joy in the Journey". So as I work my way through this one, my objective is to do exactly that….find joy in this journey. Looking for the normal and unexpected splashes of joy that come my way each and every day. I have already met many compassionate, caring & knowledgeable professionals through the testing, diagnosis and treatment planning. I have no doubt I will meet many more.
