Hello, welcome to our Mother's CaringBridge website.    We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.   As a little background information, our mother has had cancer for 18 years.  It first appeared in 2001 as breast cancer.  After chemo and radiation treatments, she was in remission for a couple of years.  In 2008, the cancer was discovered in her lungs after a biopsy was taken from a lump found on her back.  The lung tumors were kept under control since then with a combination of chemo and hormone  treatments.  In the last 6 months, she has been feeling very tired and "slow" in the head.   9 weeks ago, at the end of May, she  was admitted to the hospital due to shortness of breath and feeling unsteady.   After scans, she was diagnosed with pneumonia and brain cancer.  While in the hospital, our mother also experienced a slight stroke which has weakened her left arm and leg a bit.  She was given two weeks of brain radiation to help limit the swelling.   A very great blessing is that she experiences no pain which usually occurs with this type of diagnosis.  Another positive is that she continues to have a very good appetite.  We have a wonderful hospice nurse, Alyisha, that comes five days a week to help with mother's care.
