Sharon's journey (https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/sharonmorris2/journal/view/id/57bcc44c4db921bb5f71417d) Journal entry by David Morris — August 23, 2016

Hi to everyone who in reading this journal about Sharon's journey and fight to beat cancer !

We will update it daily, ask for daily prayer request for what is going on that day, or to share uplifting information about this journey...maybe just to share how she is feeling that day.  Sharon will journal when she feels up to it, but a little warning up front, if she share's, please be prepared to decipher the meaning of the post as so far, her writings have been very humorous and off the wall at times due to the meds she is on...:-)...so do not be concerned if they do not make any sense in the beginning...but they are too precious to leave off !!! :-)

We will share detailed medical information here at the beginning so you know what to pray for and at least have a general overview of what we are fighting....but extensive details will not be shared on this page so if you do happen to have addition questions, please send me a text or a phone call.  Dave @(480-326-2917 (https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/sharonmorris2/journal#))

We would like this site to be used by all of you for updates when you want and for me not to send one text to 30/+ people daily.  Please keep this site as a positive board to send love and prayers, comments with encouragement, etc -- thank you all.

journey begins:  Monday, August 15th.  Sharon had been having some stomach pain lately and they thought it was her Gallbladder.  We had a CT scan set for 8/16 but on Monday morning she started feeling more and more uncomfortable.  She finally mentioned maybe we should just head to ER and not wait....what a good idea that turned out to be, this is not like her, so God was already starting to set thing in motion...long story short, after hour and hours, we got the news that the spots on her liver they had seen were indeed cancer -- that dreaded 'C' word...we were in shock and it took 5 days to find the primary souse of the cancer....we ended up with tons of tests and did not go home until Sunday.

Sharon has:  Stage 4 Metastatic gastric Cancer.  They cannot operate at this stage, so our options are Chemo, Nutrition, supplements, etc...this is the medical side of this journey.

We have a full week of doctor visits, and appointments to get things in motion to start Chemo on Monday, August 29th.  The program and process can and will change as we move forward, but after talking to Ironwood Cancer center and Mayo Cancer center, they are both in agreement on how to get started, and to get started as fast as possible.  Once we have a few sessions in place, another PET scan will show how this 'chemo recipe' is working.  This is the critical time frame to see if this program is effective on her and her cancel cells shrink....if they do, we move forward.  If they do not shrink, we will need to change the recipe and find one that works on her cancer cells.  At this time, Chemo will be every three weeks and includes 5.5 of treatment on Monday, 3.5 on Tuesday and a pump for the balance of the week.  She will be getting nutritional feeds through her Power Port -- a program called TPN.  This program will allow her stomach time to heal as well as provide the needed nutrition that she would not be able to get via normal eating as she needs to be strong enough to fight the Chemo.  This also allows them to feed her via the Power Port and not have to install a feeding tube.  They will monitor labs weekly on her nutritional intake.

For the Spiritual side of this journey -- we are praying for God to show mercy and heal Sharon...show the Medical side what a 'real miracle' looks like...WE BELIEVE in Him and His will, and have a peace about this that only HE could give us.  We have our own fight song that we will add (once I figure out how too - ) and we listen to it every morning and night, right before we pray.  God has already moved in many ways and we will begin to share those miracles as we move forward.

We love you all and hope this is helpful information and a site that keeps anyone who wants updates, informed daily...Sharon and Dave
