Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Sharon was born with a form of muscular dystrophy- “myotonic dystrophy type II”. Her mother had it, her daughter has it and some of her siblings too. It’s a progressive deterioration of the muscles. The disease is not supposed to be terminal, but it can be debilitating and very painful making life miserable. She has lost a cousin after having complications with the disease and the comedian Gilbert Gottfried also passed recently who had the same disease.

On January 16, after already dealing with a great loss of mobility and muscle strength, Sharon found out she no longer has the muscle strength to take normal breaths. Her lung capacity has been greatly decreased and she is trying some treatments that help to restore her ability to breathe easily.

She is currently only able to use a Walker to move around and needs help to get in and out of chairs and her bed as well as many other daily living activities. Her family and friends have been supporting with words and actions that are much appreciated.

Both Sharon and her husband Mark will use this site to share personal updates.
