Welcome to Shari's CaringBridge website. We are using this as a means to keep our family and friends updated all in one place. Shari (aka Mom, Mamma, Sis and Grandmama) will be undergoing a total hysterectomy on Thursday, Feb. 8th due to what appears to be Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. We found out on January 25th after having a CT scan due to swelling in her legs and her belly. She's now in the VERY best of hands at UVA and we were lucky they were able to get her in so quickly (helps to have some docs in the family)! Needless to say this has been a shock to us beyond words and we're just hoping and praying we get it in time so she can continue loving life in ALL the ways she does!! Approximately 3-4 weeks after surgery she'll undergo chemotherapy for 18 weeks (at least that's what we know now - will know more after surgery). We greatly appreciate your love, support and words of hope and encouragement during this challenging time and I (Stephanie) will be keeping you posted!!
