App State Graduation Day, May 2017

Shannon Beasley Shannon K's Journey

First post: Oct 10, 2017 Latest post: Nov 17, 2017

When you're a mom, it hurts when your child is hurting. Even when they are grown-up, the ache never goes away! I've started this CaringBridge page on behalf of my daughter, Shannon Kaye Beasley, known affectionately in our family as "Shinkle Shan" or "Shan."

Her dad and I are SO proud of her!  In May, just before she turned 25,  she graduated from Appalachian State with honors.  She was all set to take on this whole new world of "adulting" when she got the dreaded news.

In late September, she went to the doctor for bronchitis, but the tests revealed something worse. Shannon was diagnosed with Stage II Non-Small Cell MO lung cancer. She has a tumor that is approximately 5 cm but has not spread to any lymph nodes.  In a few weeks, she will start radiation and chemo, which will last for six months.

We are requesting your constant prayer for Shannon's health and healing. Also please send up positive thoughts and prayers for her family and for the friends who are helping her through this journey.

Shan is the bravest young lady that I've ever known, and in true warrior fashion, her mantra is "I GOT THIS!" Her doctors are optimistic, so we must remain so as well.

(But she's only 25, Lord. She's only 25.)
