Shannon and Colin
6/17/2017 Latest post:
Shannon and Colin were in a car accident Wednesday June 14th on their way home from Pullman WA, where Shannon had been defending her thesis. An oncoming driver crossed the center line, resulting in a head on collision. Shannon and Colin are severely injured. The driver of the other vehicle died on the scene. Colin was sent to the Colfax Hospital and was released later that night with broken ribs, broken nose, stitches and bruises. Shannon was airlifted to Spokane to the Sacred Heart Hospital. She went into several surgeries to repair several lower body fractures. Shannon was six months pregnant and as a result of the accident, the doctors were unable to save the baby. As of June 17th, Shannon has completed her last surgery and now begins the road to recovery.
Shannon and Colin greatly appreciate the support and love that their family and community has shown for them. Please share your thoughts and messages for them through this site in the space near the bottom of this page. Through early in the week of June 19th, flowers and cards can be sent to them at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane. We have also set up a GoFundMe campaign to support them in their recovery listed under Ways You Can Help. If you would like to send them a card or check, you can drop it by or mail it to the WSU Mount Vernon Northwest Research and Extension Center 16650 WA 536, Mount Vernon WA 98273 where there will be a basket gathered for them. When they return home, there will be many ways to support them including meals, transportation, visitors/company, running errands, etc. but until then, they could certainly use your positive thoughts and prayers, a donation, and/or messages to know you're thinking about them. Scroll to the bottom of this page to send them a message, or click to the Ways to Help Planner to sign up for a task to help with!
