Around the middle of December, Shane was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma.  He discovered it through a swollen lymph node on the side of his neck.   After an ultrasound and then needle biopsy, it was discovered to be cancerous.  The subsequent CT scan, chest xray, pet scan,  and scope showed a tumor at the base of his tongue.  After meeting with oncology doctors, it was determined that a regimen of chemotherapy and radiation would be the best course of action for a good prognosis.  So, beginning on Monday, January 13, Shane will be receiving radiation treatments 5 days a week (Monday-Friday) for 7 weeks and simultaneously have chemo treatments every Monday for 6 weeks.  While we know this journey will be a challenging one, we also know that God will see us through and be glorified in the process.  We are so blessed with wonderful family and friends and would appreciate your prayers for Shane and our family during this time.
