On Sunday, June 4th Frank Blum Sr and his granddaughter Shaelyn Blum were involved in a  car accident.  Tragically, the crash claimed Frank's life and left Shaelyn fighting for hers.  Shaelyn was medflighted to Rockford where she has since been in the ICU.  She has many serious injuries; however, the doctors are considering her stable.  Shaelyn suffered a head injury, a back injury, a broken arm, a punctured lung, and several broken ribs.   The doctors are optimistic that she will be able to make a full recovery in time.  She has been sedated since the accident, but has made improvements each day.  The doctors are planning to operate on her arm on Thursday, until then she is expected to remain sedated.   Today (Tuesday June 6th), she was briefly brought out of sedation, and was able to acknowledge the doctors, before being put back under.  The Blum family greatly appreciates everyone's thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.  Shaelyn has a long road ahead of her, but with everyone's love and support, we expect her to make a full recovery.  Once again, we'd like to thank everyone for their calls, texts, and support over the last couple days.  The family is in the process of arranging services for Frank.    Frank was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to so many of us.  We will miss him dearly, and he will always be in our hearts.  We will continue to update the page with any news, or developments.
